Which Headlight Do you Need for Your Automobile?

What is a Headlight?

Headlight is a lamp/light mounted on the front part of the vehicle such as a van, car or truck. It is a mandatory auto part and its main purpose is to give light in darkness by illuminating the road in front of a motor vehicle. It consists of a special lens and reflector to light up the road ahead so that drivers can drive even in dark or where visibility is low.

There are various reasons why  vehicles need to have a headlamp or headlight. It is not an optional auto part as nobody can drive in darkness without headlights. Even a skilled driver cannot drive perfectly without it when night falls. A headlight makes the driving easy at night or during the snowstorm, frost and rainfall.

Which  Headlight is best for buyers?

There are mainly three types of headlights available in the market which include LED, Xenon and Halogen. You can choose any one according to your needs and priorities.

An LED (Light Emitting Diode) is a semiconductor diode that comes in different designs due to its small size. It emits light when you apply voltage to it. It can be used in various electronic and electrical products.

It is more expensive than xenon and halogen headlights, but it is ideal for the buyers who value efficient energy consumption. LED headlights need less power to work.

Xenon is an odorless, colorless and highly unreactive gas used in a filament-based automotive technologies. Xenon bulbs provide good illumination by emitting a very strong white light. It can also be utilized in high intensity discharge lighting (HID bulbs which usually not have filaments).

Halogen bulbs are used in headlights and each bulb has a thin tungsten filament and a glass filament capsule filled with halogen gas. Halogen emits bright white light. You can choose halogen headlight for your vehicle as it is a very popular headlight due to its low replacement cost and long life span but it generates waste energy and excess heat. You have to be very careful while you are replacing it. However it provides good performance in low budget.

The advantages of using Xenon bulbs over halogen are given below:-

1. It uses less power

2. It has a longer life span as compared to halogen bulbs

3. It is more efficient  than halogen

The disadvantages of using Xenon bulbs over halogen are given below:-

1. It is expensive than halogen

2. Its brightness can cause a harsh glare to other drivers
