How To Choose The Right Led Bulb?

LED lights provide up to 90% power savings compared to traditional halogen or luminescent bulbs. They also have a greatly superior life period – lasting 10,000s of hours compared to a conventional bulb which may last only 1,000 hours.

Even comparing LED bulbs with the CFL low energy lights there are obvious benefits – as you turn on the light switch, an LED light will right away provide full lighting, while the CFL would still be heating up. LEDs can also be created to generate a variety of colour temperatures.

Now while the advantages of LED are now quite well known, what a lot of customers don’t know is that LED lights differ extremely in quality.

The majority of LED lighting makers all guarantee supreme performance, in terms of lifetime and the quality of the luminosity the bulb offers, but they can’t all be true can they?

Heat Dissipation

One of the most important features of a LED bulb when it comes to superiority is how well the bulb dissipates warmth.

There are varieties of designs for heat sinks, which is why the exterior of LED bulbs changes so much between brands. You may be familiar with the metal fins on some LEDs – higher end LEDs will have ceramic heat sinks or aluminum fins. The ceramic fins can be more efficient than any metal heat sink, since they possess plenty of little pores, which offer an even better surface area to dispel the heat from compared to metals. Ceramic heat sinks have an extremely low thermal capacity, but the highest surface area to maximize heat loss into the nearby environment.

So in our understanding improved LED bulbs will use ceramics or aluminum, but this alone does not make them a marketplace leader!

Chip Set

The chip used to change electrical energy to light is also really vital aspect.
Bad quality chip will produce more heat, and will consequently not last as long. Improved bulbs will make use of chips from better producers, which create less heat and convert more power to light. You get what you pay for and it is 100% true with the LED lights.

Power Driver

The driver controls the energy entering the LED’s, making sure that the bulb functions optimally and does not burn. In an MR16, this mechanism can be found in the light switch or in the fitting, since the bulb does not have an integral driver. GU10s have an innate driver hence they do not require an outer device.

If you choose to make the switch to LED bulbs, we advise ignoring MR16 spots totally and just installing GU10s even if you have to modify the fitting.

Colour Temperature

Unlike conventional incandescent and halogen bulbs that have a tendency to generate a warm white light, LED lights are offered in numerous different colours – this is identified as the colour temperature of the bulb. To imitate the colour temperature created from a halogen GU10, you would require opting for a warm / daylight coloured bulb. If you favor the cooler light frequently linked with office spaces, then you would possibly prefer the cool light bulbs.

Quality is the most important factor and you should always choose the LED bulb which is of good quality.

Which Headlight Do you Need for Your Automobile?

What is a Headlight?

Headlight is a lamp/light mounted on the front part of the vehicle such as a van, car or truck. It is a mandatory auto part and its main purpose is to give light in darkness by illuminating the road in front of a motor vehicle. It consists of a special lens and reflector to light up the road ahead so that drivers can drive even in dark or where visibility is low.

There are various reasons why  vehicles need to have a headlamp or headlight. It is not an optional auto part as nobody can drive in darkness without headlights. Even a skilled driver cannot drive perfectly without it when night falls. A headlight makes the driving easy at night or during the snowstorm, frost and rainfall.

Which  Headlight is best for buyers?

There are mainly three types of headlights available in the market which include LED, Xenon and Halogen. You can choose any one according to your needs and priorities.

An LED (Light Emitting Diode) is a semiconductor diode that comes in different designs due to its small size. It emits light when you apply voltage to it. It can be used in various electronic and electrical products.

It is more expensive than xenon and halogen headlights, but it is ideal for the buyers who value efficient energy consumption. LED headlights need less power to work.

Xenon is an odorless, colorless and highly unreactive gas used in a filament-based automotive technologies. Xenon bulbs provide good illumination by emitting a very strong white light. It can also be utilized in high intensity discharge lighting (HID bulbs which usually not have filaments).

Halogen bulbs are used in headlights and each bulb has a thin tungsten filament and a glass filament capsule filled with halogen gas. Halogen emits bright white light. You can choose halogen headlight for your vehicle as it is a very popular headlight due to its low replacement cost and long life span but it generates waste energy and excess heat. You have to be very careful while you are replacing it. However it provides good performance in low budget.

The advantages of using Xenon bulbs over halogen are given below:-

1. It uses less power

2. It has a longer life span as compared to halogen bulbs

3. It is more efficient  than halogen

The disadvantages of using Xenon bulbs over halogen are given below:-

1. It is expensive than halogen

2. Its brightness can cause a harsh glare to other drivers

How LED Light Bulbs Can Save You Money? Read Here

LED bulbs are the future of lighting and they also help to save the environment. Now you are definitely interested in purchasing LED bulbs but the cost is more than other traditional forms of lighting. Although the initial costs of LEDs are higher than traditional bulbs but they work for a long time saving you money in the long run.

One of the most common ways in which LED light bulb will reduce the cost of your energy bills is the amount of energy it uses. LED light bulbs are considered environment friendly because of its low energy consumption. A normal shining light bulb operates by heating up a filament inside the bulb, which then gives off light, but also quite a lot of heat. The extra energy it takes to generate this heat is completely wasted since we only use the light bulb for light, not usually for warmth. LED light bulbs does not have filament, and rather this emits light due to an internal chemical process. This means they do not emit heat and thus they run on a significant lower amount of energy. If traditional bulbs run at about 100 watts, LED light bulb might consume 15 or 20 watts energy in comparison. The energy savings are immediate and considerable.

LED light bulbs last longer than traditional bulbs. Because they are not equipped with filament and there is nothing to be burn out which is the common reason of failure of traditional bulbs. They are also made of a durable plastic and are not as easily broken when accidentally fell down. Moreover, the upfront cost of an LED light bulb is more than a traditional bulb; over the long run they will save your money in the form of replacement time and also in the energy bills. And remember that the cost of LED lighting bulb price has significantly reduced over the past ten years, and may continue to do so as they become the most popular lighting choice among the people.

If you have never purchased LED lights before than it’s highly recommended to purchase a single LED light first before buying too many lights. As earlier said, LED lights are not cheap but they last longer and save energy. Before buying LED you have to be sure about architecture, proper fitting, Kelvin’s and lumens before going all in on them. It’s also recommended to look for famous brands for the good quality of LED lights and also for money back guarantee.

Checking External Lighting

Sometimes when you get home from work, it’s late, gloomy and dark. And so you switch on the lights in your home to see where you are going and to see the room. Exterior car lights have the same purpose – to see the direction and to see all around. Without these lights, you will be driving into danger. Even if one light is out, it can make all of the difference to your safety and comfort. When the time comes to replace or upgrade a light bulb, it is easy to leave it until tomorrow or the next weekend, but just like replacing a bulb in the home, you need to replace a bulb in your car as soon as possible. Driving with one headlight on in the dark may confuse motorists into thinking a motorcycle is approaching, not a 1.5 ton car.

If your headlights fail while driving in darkness, try using the light from sidelights or following the tail lights of another vehicle until you reach somewhere safe you can assess your situation.

Brake gently and try the dip switch. You may get lucky and still have a full or dip beam available if one or the other fails. Also try your light switch; sometimes a bad connection causes a temporary fault so turn it on and off a few times to see if anything happens.

If nothing happens and you are still without lights, pull off the road where possible and park safely. Switch your hazard lights or indicators on to make other drivers aware of your presence. They are very unlikely to see you unless you do this.

It is recommended that you check your car lights on a weekly basis. Have someone with you to stand in front and behind your car while you test each and every light. Any light that does not illuminate will need to be replaced.

Finding the bulb that needs replacement will be easy. Auto LED Shop has the highest quality car light bulbs at competitive prices. If you are not sure as to which bulb you need, you can use the Find Your Matching Bulbs form on our website.

7 Things We Bet You Don’t Know About LED Lighting

Most of us are already aware of the cost and energy saving capabilities of LED lighting. Average LED bulbs come with a lifespan exceeding 50,000 hours and several benefits like reduced maintenance, reduced energy costs and reduced labor. However, the benefits of LED don’t stop there. Here are 7 things you might not have known about LED lights and bulbs.

1. They switch straight on

CFLs of the yesteryears took some time to warm up and glow to the requisite power value. However, this isn’t the case with LED. There is no waiting around and you can expect a full glow the instance you put on the switch. Also, unlike the CFL, LED is highly efficient and consumes 90% less energy.

2. They allow a direct replacement

There is a rising misconception that LED lights come as retrofits and replacements require a complicated process of wiring. Many believe that LEDs cannot be replaced without an electrician and that they need GU5.3 fittings, especially for the MR16 down lights. In reality, MR16 lights use a mere 12V of power that requires a compatible driver. However, most LED fittings can be easily replaced with minimum fuss. Other bulbs like the E27 Traditional Edison LED and GU10 can be plugged straight into the socket, just like we did in earlier days.

3. It’s not about the wattage

Become LED came into the market, choosing a light bulb required choosing a power (wattage) that would be bright or dim according to the ambience of the room it is to be fitted in. LED technology on the other hand works differently. Wattage is no longer a primary determinant. Other elements that come into consideration would be the beam angle, color temperatures, etc. Further, you can even control an LED to adjust its brightness according to the requirement. These dimmable LEDs make room lighting versatile. LEDs today give the users a deep sense of control and customization.

4. Cost of ownership

Buying LED bulbs might seem more expensive than incandescent alternatives. However, in the longer run, LEDs provide to be highly cost effective. They have a longer lifetime and consume only a fraction of the energy. When buying LEDs, make sure you check the manufacturer’s warranty and reputation.

5. No more need for step ladders

Halogen lights would provide a lifetime of around 2000 hours. If used four hours a day, they would run for a year and a half. LEDs on the other hand give a whooping 15,000 hours of life. Some high end LEDs even provide 50,000 hours of lighting. If you are buying from a reputed manufacturer, you can comfortably stack your ladder away for even a decade!

6. Huge energy savings

With LED lighting, the energy savings are not just marginal but huge. Of course it will depend upon the type and length of usage. You would be saving more than 90% of electricity compared to if you would have been using incandescent bulbs or halogen. Further, you are getting better quality lighting.

7. You are saving the environment

Climate change and global warming are becoming a serious cause of concern. By using less amount of electricity, you are in fact contributing to saving the natural resources and doing your nit for the environment. Also, LED lights have less carbon emission than other alternatives.
